In the darkness of the night,
My dreams in restlessness enveiled,
Memories and bric-a-brac,
Of love once lost or failed.
I stirred quietly in my slumber,
Held closed my misty eyes,
Tried to grasp the fading pieces,
As lost dreams slipped quickly by.
I ponder’d long my heavy heart
What sadness had subdued,
“Twas just a dream” I whispered soft
– And then awoke –
To find my hope renewed.
